Holiness is at the core of God’s nature. It means He is completely pure, set apart, and without sin.
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty…” (Isaiah 6:3)
God’s holiness reminds us that He is perfect and righteous in all His ways. It also calls us to live lives that reflect His purity.
One of the most comforting truths in Scripture is that God is love.
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8)
God’s love is unconditional and sacrificial. It is most clearly seen in Jesus Christ, who gave His life for humanity. This love is not based on our worthiness, but on His nature.
God is perfectly just, meaning He always does what is right.
“He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just.” (Deuteronomy 32:4)
Justice ensures that sin is not ignored. It reminds us that God holds people accountable, but also that He is fair and righteous in all His judgments.
While God is just, He is also full of mercy and grace.
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” (Psalm 103:8)
Mercy means God does not give us the punishment we deserve, and grace means He gives us blessings we do not deserve. Together, they reveal His deep compassion toward humanity.
God is unchanging and trustworthy.
“If we are faithless, He remains faithful…” (2 Timothy 2:13)
His promises never fail. In a world full of uncertainty, God’s faithfulness provides stability and hope.
These are theological terms that describe God’s limitless nature:
“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.” (Psalm 147:5)
These attributes remind us that nothing is beyond God’s control or knowledge.
Knowing God is not just about gaining knowledge—it is about building a relationship.
When we truly know Him:
“Let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me…” (Jeremiah 9:24)
God is not distant or unknowable—He has revealed Himself through His Word and through Jesus Christ. As we study His attributes, we begin to see Him more clearly and love Him more deeply.
To know God is the greatest privilege and purpose of every believer.
The more we understand His character, the more our lives are transformed to reflect Him.
